Water and sewer rates in North Bend will increase starting Jan. 1. The increases will appear on February statements.

The city council has yet to determine exactly how much water rates will increase, but the typical household will pay about $2 or $3 more each month, depending on usage, estimated Elena Montgomery, the city’s finance director.

Montgomery expected the water rate increase proposals to be brought before the council in January or February, after a consultant completes a rates increase study.

Sewer rates will also increase by about $5 or $6 each month for a typical household, Montgomery said, to help the city meet increased costs and expenses in the sewer fund.
