King County investigates Friday night robbery at Cascade Golf Course

King County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the robbery of the Cascade Golf Course general store in North Bend over the weekend. The general store was robbed at 7:48 p.m. on Friday, April 28, by a thief who claimed to be armed.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Cindi West said the suspect was a tall, white man, who had covered his face with sunglasses and a scarf to hide his identity from the security camera.

According to Diann Pattermann, owner of the Cascade Golf Course, the man entered the store Friday night, walked up to counter where employee Lisa Stephens was working and demanded all the money in the register. He told Stephens he had a gun, but Stephens did not see a weapon.

“He told Lisa he had a gun and to put the money in the bag. He motioned to the gun in his waistband and put the bag on the counter,” Pattermann said. “Lisa, the gal behind the counter, she was very brave the way she handled this.”

Pattermann said that Stephens remained calm through the robbery and told the thief to be patient with her as she opened up the register. Stephens even told the thief “I hope you know you are on camera” before he ran from the store with the cash.

“He took off on foot, went out the front door, cut through the woods, ran onto the golf course where a couple coming off the ninth hole saw him,” Pattermann said.

Stephens and another woman, who had been hiding behind the wine rack, immediately called 911. Officers responded quickly by setting up road blocks and beginning a search of the area. A search helicopter was used that evening as well.

West said the Snoqualmie Police Department assisted King County in trying to locate the suspect, as well as the King County canine unit, but they were unable to find him.

“We are still on the hunt,” West said.

Any information on the thief should be reported to the King County Sheriff’s Office, (206) 296-3311. Pattermann said she has considered offering a reward for any information brought forth.
