Four names up for executive seat

Four names up for executive seat

Four candidates are being considered by a special committee to replace Ron Sims as King County Executive.

Sims was tapped in February to join the Obama administration. He is awaiting confirmation by the US Senate. Upon his resignation, the committee will interview the four candidates, which were nominated by King County Council members.

The nominees are former Seattle Mayor Charles Royer, Sim’s Chief of Staff Kurt Triplett and two former county council members, Steve Hammond and Louise Miller.

Council member Kathy Lambert, who represents the Upper Valley, nominated Miller because she is not Seattle-centric and understands regional issues.

“I don’t think the unincorporated areas would feel comfortable with having a former Seattle employee in charge of the county,” Lambert said.
