SNOQUALMIE – Initial plans for the second phase of the Snoqualmie Ridge (SRII) development have been released by the city of Snoqualmie, outlining the impacts of the massive project.

The Quadrant Corp. hopes to start breaking ground on the project later this year, which is made up of 736 acres that are mostly located to the southeast of the Snoqualmie Ridge development and are bisected by Snoqualmie Parkway. There are two smaller parcels of land to the north and west of Snoqualmie Ridge that make up the rest of SRII.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) released earlier this month explains the impacts and mitigations for the project, which is expected to be completed by 2010. It contains three different plans for development with each one taking into account the construction of one new school, two schools or no schools at all.

The first plan for development, called Alternative One, would leave land set aside for the construction of two schools. Of the 736 acres at the site, a little under half (371) would be used for 1,850 residential units, with 65 acres for two schools. The remaining space would be doled out to 286 acres for parks, open spaces and trails, and the remaining 34 acres for roads and easements for utilities.
