Hiker rescued near Snoqualmie Pass after 70-foot fall Monday

After falling more than 70 feet while hiking near Snoqualmie Pass Monday, a 64-year-old hiker was rescued by King County Search and Rescue and Seattle Mountain Rescue.

After falling more than 70 feet while hiking near Snoqualmie Pass Monday, a 64-year-old hiker was rescued by King County Search and Rescue and Seattle Mountain Rescue.

King County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a hiker had fallen near a mountain called Tooth in the Snoqualmie Pass area at around 5 p.m. on Monday, June 20. The call came from another group of climbers who witnessed the fall.

The victim, suffering from head, back, neck and leg wounds reported having difficulty breathing and loss of feeling in his hands and feet.

Search and Rescue and Seattle Mountain Rescue sent volunteers to help the man while medics from Bellevue Fire and a Guardian 2 helicopter and crew from King County made their way to the hiker’s location.

The responding volunteers and medics were able to get the victim onto a backboard for loading onto the helicopter. He was flown to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains, in critical condition.
