Horses and riders throughout the Pacific Northwest, California and Canada are expected to compete on Wednesday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 12, in the Evergreen Classic Horse Show at its new home in Remlinger Farms Equestrian Park, an 80-acre parcel of flat land located along the Snoqualmie River and five blocks from downtown Carnation.

“It is the most prestigious horse event in the Pacific Northwest,” said Bonnie Remlinger, who co-owns the park and Remlinger Farms with her husband, Gary Remlinger.

Dianne Johnson and Barbara Baierle originally organized the show 28 years ago at Gold Creek Equestrian Center in Woodinville. The show was then relocated to Marymoor Park in Redmond until 2003. Then, after three years at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, with the help of riders David Robinson and Kevin Goyena, the Remlinger family was approached and negotiations began in the fall of 2006 to use Remlinger Farms Equestrian Park, an outdoor grassy field with chain-link fencing surrounding it.

Johnson still manages horse shows in the Northwest and Oregon, and Baierle is still show secretary for many of these shows, including this one in Carnation. Emerald Horse Productions, the current show management team, was organized to keep the show alive and in the Northwest. The Evergreen Classic Horse Show has grown to be Washington state’s largest hunter/jumper show.
