North Bend resident Todd Gamble has whole new worlds at his fingertips.

North Bend resident Todd Gamble has whole new worlds at his fingertips.

Gamble is one of a handful of professional artists that create the imaginary worlds and settings in popular games, including Dungeons and Dra-gons and Axis and Allies. His credits appear on hundreds of games published by Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro. Recent artistic creations include Avalon Hill’s “Guadalcanal” war game and the “Sword and Skull” pirate game.

Originally from California, Gamble’s been an aspiring artist ever since age 13. He remembers drawing during his seventh-grade math class. Gamble finished college at California State University at Chico and moved north, looking for a good city. He eventually settled in North Bend, finding its rural climate in the Cascade foothills similar to his hometown roots.

“I’ve done tons of jobs,” said Gamble, who at one time worked for silk-screen businesses and laid out advertising for newspapers. Currently, his main job is teaching art year-round to young children at private preschools.
