Hundreds of ducks poured from the crest of the Snoqualmie River bridge in Fall City on Saturday, Aug. 30, in the long-awaited 2008 Ducky Derby.

Originally postponed from its normal setting of Fall City Days in June due to high water, the Labor Day Weekend event drew a crowd along with the legion of bobbing rubber ducks.

The race takes about 10 minutes from start to finish, with the little rubber duckies powered by wind, current and the occasional leaf-blower.

Colin Fleisch, 8, and Jake Showers, 9, both of Fall City, each entered a duck. The secret to winning is luck, according to Jake, and possibly blowing on your duck, Colin said.
