This summer, the North Bend Fire Academy will host Camp Blaze, a fire camp specially aimed at young women ages 16 to 19.
The camp will be held July 30 through Aug. 8 and is offered to qualified campers at no cost.
Skills that participants will learn include rappelling, search and rescue, aerial ladder climbing, using self-contained breathing apparatus, and teamwork.

Camp Blaze is a non-profit organization first introduced in 2001 and is managed solely by women firefighters who volunteer their time to put on a one-week residential fire camp that provides young women ages 16 to 19 with training and experiences in problem solving, team building and physical achievement. Camp Blaze utilizes a fire service environment to explore work ethic, to expose young women to non-traditional skills and to train them for future leadership opportunities.
