Fall City artists Cynthia Gerdes and Craig Breitbach are taking part in the 24 Hour Art Marathon at the ArtEast gallery.
The ArtEast marathon is 9 a.m. Thursday, March 3, through 9 a.m. Friday, March 4. A reception and auction takes place on the following Saturday. Tickets are $25.
Gerdes, who owns Fall City Wax Works and creates encaustic, or hot-wax, and mixed media paintings and artworks, and Breitbach, a stone and wood sculptor, will create works during the all-day, all-night event at the Issaquah gallery.
“The event will bring together lots of artists and ideas,” Breitbach told the Record. “It will be interesting to see what lack of sleep and caffeine does for our creativity.”
“The atmosphere should be electric, and the energy flowing from the fantastic group of participating artists should serve to keep me awake,” said Gerdes. She plans to create four encaustic paintings to be auctioned at the March 5 reception.
Breitbach has been a member of ArtEast for six years.
“I appreciate the fun events and continual support that it sponsors for artists like me, and I am impressed and inspired by the other artist members,” he said. “I know that the marathon event will produce some amazing artwork!”
ArtEAST is located at 95 Front St. N., Issaquah. Call the  group at (425) 392-3191.
