Body found in river identified

Police are retracing the man’s last months.

The body found floating in the Snoqualmie River near Sandy Cove Park at 7970 Falls Ave. SE on March 9 has been identified.

A kayaker had been paddling along the river at 4:20 p.m. and noticed what appeared to be a body tangled in debris.

The Snoqualmie Police Department issued a press release on March 12 saying the deceased, light skinned male pulled from the river has been identified as Ryan Canady.

Canady was 39 years old and had been estranged from his family members who had not heard from him since since he moved out in December of last year. The family has been notified of the death.

Canady’s cause of death is yet to be determined.

“His body could’ve been in the river for up to a month — dating back to floodwaters,” said Snoqualmie Police Detective Jason Weiss.

As of March 12 the department was working on tracing Canady’s steps dating back to December, and was asking those who may have had contact with him to reach out.
