Blotter | Homeowner locked out while cooking breakfast; Firefighters save Fall City diner

Police and fire agencies in the Snoqualmie Valley responded to the following calls:

Snoqualmie Fire Department

Friday, Jan. 22

Locked out: At 10:49 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to assist a woman who was locked out of her house while she had a pan sitting on a lit gas burner inside. Smoke alarms were sounding in the home when the crew arrived. The homeowner said she had forgotten her key when she went outside and gave the crew permission to kick the door open. Inside the home, the first floor was filled with smoke. Firefighters took the smoking pan outside, turned off the stove and ventilated the house.

Saturday, Jan. 23

Semi fire: At 4:09 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters assisted in providing water, a hydrant connection and manpower in fighting a fire in a burning semi tractor-trailer in the parking lot of the Gull gas station. They also helped contain the ammonium nitrate that was leaking from the vehicle.

Sunday, Jan. 24

Broken pipe: At 7:47 p.m., firefighters were called to a home that reported a broken water line on Denny Peak Drive. The homeowner could not get the water to turn off. The crew arrived and found water flowing down the street from the water line. The front yard was saturated and the water meter was spinning rapidly. They helped the homeowner to shut the water off and contacted Snoqualmie Public Works.

Wednesday, Jan. 27

Vent closed: At 8:12 a.m., the department was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Salish Lodge. The crew found that a vent over the stove in the kitchen had been closed, triggering the smoke alarm.

Medial aid: In addition, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 12 medical incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 69.

 

Fall City Fire Department

Friday, Jan. 22

Medication problem: At 10:38 a.m., firefighters from Fall City responded to the Carnation area to assist Eastside Fire on an aid call for a 55-year-old man who became nauseated after taking several pain-killers. He also had a decreased level of consciousness. They transported the man to a meeting point, at which medics from Bellevue Fire evaluated the man, then took him to a hospital for further treatment.

Hip pain: At 4:41 p.m., the department was called to assist an 88-year-old woman who reported having hip pain for several days. Firefighters transported her to a local hospital.

Saturday, Jan. 23

Weakness: At 5:18 p.m., the department was called to assist an 88-year-old woman who was experiencing general weakness and not feeling well. Firefighters evaluated her on scene, and determined that she could stay home under the care of family members. Family members were advised to call 911 again if symptoms returned, which they did an hour later. Firefighters responded and transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment.

Monday Jan. 25

Cardiac arrest: At 7:35 p.m., the department was called to the Fall City Roadhouse to assist an 88-year-old patient in cardiac arrest. The patient had been eating dinner when he suddenly became unresponsive and stopped breathing. Firefighters started CPR, and the patient responded after a few minutes. Firefighters from Snoqualmie, and medics from Bellevue Fire Department also responded to assist. The patient was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Friday, Jan. 15

Short of breath: At 12:08 a.m., the department was called to assist a 55-year-old man who was experiencing shortness of breath. Firefighters evaluated the man and took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Fall: At 11:21 a.m., firefighters assisted a man who had fallen from his wheelchair and needed help getting up. They got the man back into his chair and confirmed that he was uninjured.

Flu: At 11:28 a.m., firefighters were called to the home of a 39-year-old man who was experiencing flu-like symptoms. He had become dizzy and collapsed on his bathroom floor. The crew evaluated the man at home, then took him to a local hospital for further treatment.

False alarm: At 5:13 p.m., the crew was dispatched to a home in the Lake Alice area for a fire alarm. They determined that the alarm was accidentally set by a cable television technician.

Saturday, Jan. 16

Fight: At 1:35 a.m., the department was asked to examine a 32-year-old man in the custody of King County Sheriff’s officers. He had suffered a nose injury in a fight. The crew evaluated the man and left him in the custody of the officers.

Dizziness: At 7:46 p.m., the department assisted a 71-year-old man who was feeling dizzy, faint and nauseated. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Sunday, Jan. 17

Fall: At 4:04 p.m., firefighters assisted a 64-year-old woman who hurt her leg in a fall. They splinted her leg and transported her to a local hospital for treatment.

Weakness: At 6:38 p.m., firefighters got a report of an 81-year-old patient who was experiencing general weakness. The patient was taken to a local hospital.

Tuesday, Jan. 19

Legal burn: At 1:26 p.m., the department received a report of smoke in the 34000 block of Fall City-Snoqualmie Road S.E. The source of the smoke was found to be a homeowner who was conducting legal, permitted burning.

Wednesday, Jan. 20

Dizziness: At 8:19 a.m., firefighters were called to assist a 65-year-old woman who was experiencing dizziness and feeling faint. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Short of breath: At 4:04 p.m., firefighters from Fall City, Eastside and Bellevue Fire responded to a report of a 68-year-old man who was experiencing shortness of breath. The patient was evaluated by both firefighters and medics, and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
