Hopelink creates Web site for philanthropists

Young people are showing more interest in helping their communities and people in need than ever before.

Young people are showing more interest in helping their communities and people in need than ever before.

That’s why Hopelink, a support organization that serves the Valley and the region, has launched a new Web site specifically for them. YouthLink, at www.youthink.hope-link.org, recently debuted as a source of information, inspiration and fun for young people wanting to be active and involved members of their community.

With support from Comcast, the site was created for middle school and high school students looking for opportunities to make a difference in their community through Hopelink, and to recognize those young people who have already done so.

The site features opportunities for families to help Hopelink, short stories and pictures of youths who help and volunteer, and a list of fiction and nonfiction books dealing with issues of hunger, homelessness, poverty and related subjects for young people. There are also games and quizzes, a Hopelink “widget” graphic for young people to add to their own Web pages, a calendar of family-oriented Hopelink events, guestbook, and opportunities for families to help Hopelink.
