In the largest public ceremony in Washington State, “Wreaths Across America Day” will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Bellevue’s Sunset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
More than 1,200 wreaths will be placed on veterans’ graves in the cemetery. All are invited to join in placing wreaths at the conclusion of the ceremony. Senior officers of each military branch will place service wreaths and special wreaths honoring prisoners of war and those missing in action. The event is hosted by the Cascade Centennial Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, American Legion Post #161, VFW Post #2995, Sunset Hills Memorial Park and The Association of Washington Generals. Assisting will be Navy ROTC cadets from the University of Washington, JNROTC cadets from Liberty High School, the Boy Scouts and the Six-4-One Vocal Band.
