Many are by now aware that the Snoqualmie Valley School District has placed an important bond proposition on the ballot. The bond provides a long-term facilities solution that will both improve education and alleviate overcrowding at the high school.

After two years of research, analysis and community input, we have developed a creative, cost-effective solution to meet the education needs of our growing community—both in terms of space for student learning and improving educational programming to better prepare our students for successful life after high school in the 21st century.

As the bond proposition was finalized last fall, concerted efforts were made, given the current economic conditions, to develop a plan that would fully utilize the capacity of existing school buildings to address overcrowding at the high school. Most importantly, this solution is a positive one for students and their educational experience. The solution provides better programming opportunities for students in grades 10 to 12, and strengthens support systems to facilitate more successful transitions for ninth graders entering high school. Also, the bond would enable the district to continue to serve the educational needs of all Snoqualmie Valley middle school students in three schools; sustaining the current model in place since 2008 that has been very successful for students in grades 6 through 8.
