No good options in boundary change

As a parent with children directly affected by the new boundaries for Snoqualmie Valley School District, I am very concerned with the school board’s suggestions. They state that they are considering economic diversity in their decision, yet in three of the five options, the three higher economic neighborhoods, Si View, Uplands and Forster Woods, are all in one school.

They also stated transportation was a major consideration even though in all five options Si View attends North Bend Elementary, even though they are much closer to Opstad. I believe that they are within one mile of Opstad, which means that they would not need to be bussed. The district will be obligated to bus them to North Bend Elementary.

I am also bothered by the fact that my children will have to leave their beloved school and teachers to make room for future students in Snoqualmie. It is hard to miss that North Bend students are paying the price for the lack of foresight by Snoqualmie.

The school board claims that there are five options, but in the case of certain neighborhoods, there is one option: no choice.
