Letter: Snoqualmie pastor says ‘Thank you, Muslim neighbors’

Saturday’s Meet Your Muslim Neighbors event at Timber Ridge Elementary was informative and well timed. Thanks to each of the speakers, everyone in attendance, and the Muslim Association of Snoqualmie Ridge for outstanding outreach and hospitality. What a rich way to heal ignorance with education, and anxiety with community.

During the question and answer period one person said, “This is the social media we need,” as if real people connecting with real people still makes all the difference. Let’s keep connecting.

One way to follow up on that event would be to participate in the ongoing Snoqualmie Valley interfaith dialogues that began a few months ago. The next one is planned for Feb. 26 and details are available by emailing masrioc@snoqualmiemosque.org.

These gatherings emphasize small group discussion, different faith perspectives, sharing experiences, and friendship. People from all faiths and no faith affiliations are welcome. I’m so grateful for these opportunities in Snoqualmie Valley.
