The story “Lost on a trail, missing Boxer finds help after four rough days” published in last week’s Valley Record is an important reminder that dogs need to be kept on a leash especially if dog owners are told to do so at the trailhead.

This whole ordeal could have been avoided by following this simple rule. When required, a dog should be on a leash even if it is just to ensure his well being and safety.
