Koko Beans: coffee culture central

John Good may be the new owner of Koko Beans Coffee House in Snoqualmie, but he’s well-known to his customers. Good worked as a barista at the independent cafe since October before buying the business March 1 from Shelly Cole, who retired.

“We have a unique place,” Good said. “Everything is about the people.”

Good wants the coffee house to be a community center and tries to be on a first-name basis with his customers. It’s all part of the community feeling he hopes to foster.

Koko Beans hosts art shows by area artists, promotes local events and businesses and contributes to area charities in addition to serving fine coffee – roasted by Cle Elum-based Pioneer Coffee – often artfully presented by longtime barista Rachel Sherman.

Good said he would like to add some evening hours with live music and plans to coordinate an art walk evening with nearby Isadora’s Books and Cafe.

Good, his wife, Crista, and daughter, Kayla, moved to Snoqualmie last fall and immediately fell in love with the area. Koko Beans is located at 8110 Railroad Ave. S.E., Snoqualmie. E-mail kokobeanscoffee@hotmail.com or call Good at (425) 273-6565 for information.
