Snoqualmie hosts fall recycling, shred day and food drive

The city of Snoqualmie, in partnership with the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program, King County Solid Waste and the state Department of Ecology,is holding a fall recycling event, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Centennial Field Park, 39903 S.E. Park St., Snoqualmie.
In addition to collecting reusable household goods, batteries, tires, petroleum products, electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, yard waste, refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners and scrap metal for recycling, the event will be a food drive.

Accepted items include:
Small appliances in working condition, reusable clothing, shoes, pots, pans, bedding, books, toys, but no furniture, carpet or mattresses;
Car, truck, marine lead acid batteries;Household alkaline, rechargeable and button batteries;
On or off rim light truck, car and motorcycle tires; bias ply, steel-belted and studded tires are OK;
Motor oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, two-cycle mix, transmission and brake fluid, kerosene, antifreeze and oil filters; do not mix liquids together;
Computer CPU’s, monitors, keyboards, mice, scanners, fax machines, cell phones and VCR’s;
Printers, copiers, laptops, CD/DVD players, televisions and stereos;
Fluorescent bulbs or tubes; no light fixtures or broken tubes;
Grass, leaves, branches up to 3 inches in diameter and 3 feet long;
Sod, dirt, rocks, stumps and manure;
Plastic bags;
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners;
Scrap-metal barbecues, microwaves, cast iron sinks and tubs, lawnmowers, stoves, water heaters, washers, dryers and dishwashers; remove fluids first.
Oil-based paint, pesticides, or household chemicals will not be accepted at the recycling event, but can be disposed of at the Factoria Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site, 13800 SE 32nd St. Bellevue. No cars, trailers, or greasy metal will be accepted, and no propane tanks.
