Snoqualmie City Council gets first look at new fire station

SNOQUALMIE – The details of a new Snoqualmie fire station planned for construction off Snoqualmie Parkway are starting to take shape.

Preliminary plans for the $3.6-million station to be built about one-half mile west of the Snoqualmie Parkway and State Route 202 intersection were presented to the City Council at a roundtable discussion earlier this month.

Snoqualmie Department of Public Safety Fire Division Deputy Chief Bob Rowe said that the new station should accommodate future growth in the Valley.

“This should last us the next 15 to 20 years,” Rowe said.

Rowe said the staffing level of the department is expected to reach five firefighters with one supervisor per shift in the next 20 years. Presently there are two firefighters and one supervisor on each of the three shifts per day.

The present fire station, located at 38624 River Street, does not meet many state codes and Rowe said it was not built to house firefighters 24 hours a day.
