Track athletes set records

Several members of both the mens’ and womens” track teams at Mount Si set school records this year. The relay team of Kristen Berndt, Monica Nelson, Jordan Tipton and Nicole Remish tied the school’s record in the 400 relay at 52 seconds. The previous record was set in 1997.
Piper Sherbon set the new school record of 37 feet, 6 inches in the triple jump, bumping Pam Lovely’s 1997 distance of 34 feet, 6 inches.
The oldest unbroken record for the womens’ team is Chris Crittenden’s 1977 running of the 100-meter dash in 12.6 seconds.
For the men, Alex Grazda set a new school record in limited flight javelin, first implemented in 2002 with a distance of 173 feet, 10 inches. The old record was set by Josh Flores in 2002 with a distance of 169 feet, 7 inches.
Prior to 2002, the record was held by Jim Stevens at 199 feet, 9 inches, from 1985. The oldest track record still standing for the men is Don Odell in the 100-meter dash with 10.9 seconds, and 200-meter dash with, 21.50. Both were set in 1964.
