Snoqualmie council race narrowed

SNOQUALMIE – The pool of candidates for Position 4 on the Snoqualmie City Council was cut in half last week.

As of Sept. 22, incumbent Marcia Korich and challenger Nate Short were the top two vote-getters in the Sept. 16 primary election. The pair were beating challengers Gil Tumey and Terry Sorenson. The last official count before the Valley Record press time recorded 100 percent of the ballots cast and 80 percent of the absentee ballots.

The results from the Sept. 16 election will not become official until Sept. 26.

Early results showed Korich was the top candidate in the field, garnering 234 of the 697 votes cast (34.72 percent). Short was not far behind with 209 votes (31.01 percent). Tumey got 140 votes (20.77 percent) and Sorenson received 91 votes (13.5 percent).

Korich and Short will face each other in the general election on Nov. 4. Incumbent Dick Kirby will face challenger Jeff MacNichols for City Council Position 2 on that date as well.
