Local Little Leaguers take on the best from Eastside

Several Little League all-star teams from the Valley made their marks at the recent District 9 tournaments. Leading that charge was the Majors Softball team from Fall City, combined with the Sno-Valley North Little League of Carnation and Duvall, as they finished second after an amazing run.

For the 11- and 12-year-old girls, it all started in Kirkland July 4 as they pulled off an 11-8 win against a tough Eastlake team, then two days later, on July 6, they surprised a team consisting of Bellevue and Mercer Island kids, winning 5-2. They scored all five runs with two out in the top of the sixth and final inning. FC/SVN then faced off against Issaquah July 8 and rode the strong arm of Sophie Palenscar, who struck out 12, and the bat of Stephanie Hall, whose single in the bottom of the seventh scored Chelsea Henrickson to give the FC/SVN girls a thrilling 2-1 victory, which sent them to the championship against Redmond last Wednesday, July 11.
