Friday, Sept. 22

Animal Problem: At 6:12 p.m., a large black bear in the back yard of a home on Fern Avenue SE, Snoqualmie, was reported to police. The bear walked toward a nearby trail and then to the train park area. When police arrived the bear could not be found.

Sunday, Sept. 24

Agency assist: At 7:41 a.m., police responded with the fire department to a fire alarm on Rock Creek Ridge Boulevard SW, North Bend. An angry tenant had pulled the fire alarm. There was no fire.

Juvenile problem: At 6:15 p.m., four children were seen trespassing on the golf course off Heather Avenue SE, Snoqualmie. The children were on the course greens and in the sand. Police arrived, collected the children and brought them back to their parents, then advised the parents not to let their children wander onto private property.

Welfare check: At 6:49 p.m., police received a report of a woman who had been drinking, who was screaming at people and making rude gestures in the 43000 block of SE North Bend Way, North Bend. Officers contacted the woman, who was a known subject. She was suspected of stealing liquor from a local grocery story, and was charged with an open container violation.

Monday, Sept. 25

Dangerous animal: At 1:35 a.m., a bear on SE Fury Street, Snoqualmie, was reported to police. The caller was told to stay inside the house and wait for officers to arrive. Police could not locate the bear.

Suspicious: At 2:57 p.m., police were called to a report of three people walking on the old Honey Farm property on 384th Avenue SE, Snoqualmie. Police arrived and found that three teenagers had come to the property to film a scary movie in an old building on the farm. Officers advised them to seek permission first and sent them home.

Thursday, Sept. 28

Mischief: At 6:47 a.m., a homeowner on SE Swenson Street, Snoqualmie, called police to report someone had broken their patio table overnight. Police found that the wind had caught an open umbrella and knocked it into the glass table, and blown other furniture around, but no sign of foul play. The homeowner agreed it was likely weather related.

Theft: At 9:22 p.m., two men stole liquor from the 400 block of SW Mount Si Boulevard, North Bend, and drove away in a red pick up truck. Police located the vehicle and took one of the men into custody.

Animal problem: At 10:46 a.m., a caller reported a dog running free, dragging its leash behind it at Centennial Field in Snoqualmie. An officer contacted the dog owner and warned the person that if they were called back out, the owner would be cited.

Thursday, Sept. 21

False alarm: At 12:17 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to a medical alert alarm. They determined it was an accidental activation. The patient was contacted and in fine health.

Vehicle fire: At 7:01 a.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 90. They arrived to find smoke from the rear tire of a flatbed semi-trailer. The driver said the tire started smoking so he pulled over and attempted to extinguish it with multiple extinguishers. The inside tire of the dual wheel apparently blew out from the heat. Firefighters completed putting out the fire and cooling the trailer, then turned the scene over to Washington State Patrol took over the scene to arrange for a tow truck.

Friday, Sept. 22

Brush fire: At 1 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded with other units to I-90 at milepost 42 for a reported brush fire. They found no fire.

Sunday, Sept. 24

Smoke: At 4:24 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke in the Johnson Heights area. The crew arrived and located a small, 2-by-2-foot wood fire, which a family was using to roast marshmallows. Firefighters advised the family of the report of smoke, and asked them to put out the fire.

Collision: At 11:56 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to North Bend Way, where a woman was complaining of neck and back pain after a motor vehicle accident. She said she was traveling at 30-35 miles per hour and was rear-ended by another vehicle. She said she hadn’t lost consciousness or hit her head and had no other symptoms or injuries. Her vehicle was on its wheels, with minor damage to the rear and no airbag deployment. She was transported to a local hospital.

Monday, Sept. 25

Strong smell: At 10:07 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a strong odor at the Snoqualmie Falls Credit Union and found the building evacuated when they arrived. The staff said they called 911 when they began to feel nauseated and weak. The employees were evaluated and crews checked out the building. Firefighters discovered the smell was coming from next door, where over the weekend, workers laid down an epoxy floor. The floor was emitting gas and odors. They opened the building’s windows and notified the property manager.

Gas leak: At 10:21 a.m., Snoqualmie firefighters were dispatched to a gas leak reported in a home. They found a strong odor of gas on the second floor, but no leak was detected. The homeowner said she’s found a burner knob turned on just prior to calling 911. Firefighters opened windows and set up the homeowner’s fan to air the home out.

Tuesday, Sept. 26

Dryer fire: At 1:02 p.m., Snoqualmie firefighters responded to the Snoqualmie Laundry for a reported dryer fire. Smoke was seen coming from the eaves and vents of the roof and inside, firefighters found heavy smoke. They searched the area and found the fire was contained to one dryer. Firefighters removed the contents and took them outside to be extinguished, then checked the surrounding area. The owner of the laundromat reviewed the security camera footage and found that a patron had overloaded the dryer, and it spontaneously ignited while drying.

Wednesday, Sept. 27

Alarm: At 2:24 a.m., firefighters responded to a smoke detector sounding at a Snoqualmie Ridge store, in a hallway at the back of the store. They found no sign of fire. A store manager said they’d been having problems with the new alarm system and the alarm company was already on its way for repair.

Medical aid: In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 15 medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 828.
