Work began Monday on the North Bend downtown plaza project, pictured here. When complete, the plaza will feature wider sidewalks, improved street furniture and a unique raised intersection, stamped with a depiction of the three forks of the Snoqualmie River. Construction on the North Bend Downtown Plaza project began on Monday of this week, and is projected to wrap up by the end of November. The project is located along East North Bend Way between Bendigo Boulevard South (S.R. 202) and Ballarat Avenue North.

For part of the project’s schedule, East North Bend Way from Bendigo Boulevard S to Ballarat Avenue N., will be closed. Parking will also be reduced in the project area.

Improvements planned for the $1.6 million project include widened sidewalks, improved stormwater drainage, landscaping and the burial of utility lines in the North Bend Way/Main Avenue intersection.

Downtown businesses will remain open during construction, and residents and visitors are encouraged to support downtown businesses during this time. The city is providing updated project schedules and downtown parking maps, on the North Bend Public Works Department Current Projects Web page. The plaza work will be divided into stages to limit the impact on businesses.
