Valley Rifle Club announces plans for new outdoor range

Plans for construction of an outdoor rifle and
trap range were announced this week, following the
monthly business meeting of the Snoqualmie Valley Rifle
Club Tuesday evening, May 14. President C.V. Hanson
conducted the session which was highlighted by
discussion and selection of a centrally located site for the new
range. Considerable preliminary work was necessary before
the long-anticipated range could progress to its present
stage of development. Arrangements for procuring the
land are now in progress and the laying out and building
of the new range will be pushed at top speed in order
to provide the facilities at the earliest possible date.
An indoor range for small bore of the standard
50-foot firing variety, and outdoor 50- and 100-yard
small bore range, and a large bore range up to 250 yards
are projected. Of special interest to shotgun experts and
enthusiasts will be the proposed trap range. Many
shotgun artists have long wished for a range of this type in
the Valley.
Has Busy Week
In addition to the Tuesday night meeting, the
Rifle Club held the third in its series of rifle instruction
classes for some 30 students, who went into their first
firing order last Monday evening, and conducted the
regular Thursday night competitive shoot.
A special meeting for final planning of
construction of the range has been called for Tuesday, May 28, at
8 p.m. at the Fall City school. In the meantime, a
committee consisting of three riflemen and three shotgun
boosters will make a complete investigation of the land
and facilities and report at the special meeting, which is
open to the public. All interested persons are invited to
attend, particularly those who are partial to shotgun
work, since installation of a trap depends largely on
interest shown by Valley shooters.
The club, now going into its third year, is
growing rapidly. Financial backing for this project has been
excellent. Continued cooperation and support, which
may be evidenced by attendance at the meeting, will
encourage the club to produce a new range of which the
Valley may be proud.
