Breakfast to honor residents’ efforts

The 13th annual Rise and Shine Breakfast, to honor community members who make the Snoqualmie Valley a better place, is 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the River Ranch, 33300 N.E. 32nd St., Carnation.

The breakfast will include a presentation by the combined Riverview and Sno Valley Youth Councils on “What’s Great About Growing Up in the Valley.”

Lee receives Robeson award

Fall City student Kendra Lee, a freshman at Mount Si High School, received the Paul Robeson Scholar-Athlete Award at a Thursday, May 14 ceremony at the Qwest Events Center.

Lee was nominated by her Hurricanes softball team, where she plays first base and pitches. Kendra has participated in volleyball, soccer and softball, as well as jazz band, while maintaining a high GPA.

Wright earns leader award

Catherine Wright of Snoqualmie, a second-year student at Georgetown University, has been named one of 16 Goldman Sachs Global Leaders in the United States for 2009.

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program identifies and rewards the academic excellence and leadership potential of 150 of the most accomplished second-year students across the world from all disciplines.
