Which private golf club in the Pacific Northwest boasts the best golfers? TPC Snoqualmie Ridge recently announced Meridian Valley Country Club as the winner of the first ever “Northwest Private Club Championship.” Sponsored by Tiffany & Co. and hosted at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge on Oct. 27, the championship consisted of a competition between 11 private golf clubs in the region. Teams included each club’s golf pro and the top men’s and women’s amateur golfers. Playoffs at each club took place during the summer.
Professional Greg Manley and amateurs Sue Hubbard and Chad Warford from Meridian Valley Country Club won the championship in a one-hole playoff after tying the Sahalee Country Club team with a score of 68. TPC Snoqualmie Ridge and Canterwood Golf and Country Club tied for third with scores of 69. The threesome’s best score on each hole counted toward the final score.
“TPC Snoqualmie Ridge was thrilled to host such an exciting competition among the area’s top club amateur and professional golfers,” said Jeff Ducharme, general manager at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. “We hope to continue the Northwest Private Club Championship next year – the only one of its kind in the Puget Sound area.”
Meridian Valley Country Club was awarded with a Tiffany & Co. pewter trophy to display at their clubhouse for the year. This traveling trophy will follow future winning clubs in subsequent years and the names of the winners will be engraved on the trophy. Winning team members also each received custom-designed Tiffany & Co. crystal loving cups.
Other participating teams included Hayden Lake Country Club, Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club, Fairwood Golf and Country Club, Whispering Firs Golf Club, Seattle Golf Club, Gig Harbor Golf Club and Glendale Golf Club.
