SNOQUALMIE – Janet Carr’s new job will have her looking over the investments of about 4,200 people.
As the recently hired Snoqualmie city treasurer, she will count every penny paid by residents to the city. She will supervise the budget process, make sure bills get paid and generally maintain a watchful eye on the city’s coffers.
Carr, who has lived in Carnation for the past 22 years, has 25 years of financial experience, ranging from her first job as a teller to multiple positions managing banks on the Eastside. She replaces Shirley Leonard, who resigned after four years with the city.
This is Carr’s first job in public service and she is looking forward to serving in a public capacity.
“As city treasurer, it will be my responsibility to oversee the coordination and preparation of the city’s budget, as well as maintain records, provide financial planning and analysis support to other city departments, the city administrator, the mayor and the City Council,” Carr said.
