Pine Lake
defeats Eagles
Outnumbered by a large Pine Lake team, the Snoqualmie Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ track teams were defeated in their third meet of the season.
Even though depth was in Pine Lake’s favor, both SMS teams turned in some outstanding performances. In the seventh-grade meet, Danielle Carlson was the only female jumper to clear 4 feet, 6 inches to take first place. Tephra Brune threw to a first place in the shot put, and Kassy Kramer finished first in the 200 meters. Kramer also picked up second place in the 100-meter dash.
Other second-place finishers were Anika Granillo in the hurdles, Kayla Grant in the long jump, Carrie Patterson in the shot put and Julie Patterson in the discus. Granillo also took third in the high jump.
In the eighth-grade girls’ meet, Chelsie Eddings placed first in the high jump, and Alina Plavsky was first in the discus. The 800-meter relay team of Tove Garhart, Collete Hatch, Kali Walker and Nicole Remish placed first in 2 minutes, 4 seconds, which was less than four-tenths of a second from the all-time, top-five 800-meter relay teams.
Second-place finishes went to Eddings in the hurdles, Garhart in the 1,600 meters, Hatch in the 400 meters, Jordan Tipton in the long jump and Allyson Rosman in the discus. Rosman’s throw in the discus was eighth feet farther than her personal record.
Remish took third in the 100-meter dash, as did Tipton and Walker in the 200 meters and long jump, respectively.
Track team drops meet
The Snoqualmie Middle School Eagles took on a large and talented Pine Lake team last week, and both the seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ squads lost their matchups.
The eighth-grade boys walked away with six first-place finishes, three-second place finishes and two third-place finishes.
Matt Haas was first in the 1,600 meters, and Cody Hyatt won first place in the 100-meter dash as well as the 200-meter dash.
Brian Mauhl took first in the shot put, as did Levi Nelson in the long jump and Jason Townzen in the high jump.
Second place went to Chris Brennan in the hurdles, Haas in the 800 meters and Hyatt in the in the discus.
Levi Nelson added a third in the 100-meter dash, and Jordan Lamborn placed third in the 400 meters.
In the seventh-grade meet, the Eagles took home two first-place finishes, four second-place finishes and one third-place effort.
Justice Manson took both first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
Kyle Wiley-Fulton took second in the 400 meters and long jump, as did Daniel Floyd in the 800 meters and Adam Davies in the high jump.
Aaron Nichter took third in the 1,600 meters.
SMS splits
with Hawks
The Snoqualmie Middle School Eagles hosted the Chief Kanim Middle School Hawks recently at Mount Si High school, with SMS’s seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ teams losing and the sixth-grade team notching a win.
The eighth-grade boys lost a close one to a tough CKMS team. The boys had six first-place finishes, including Chris Brennan in the 75-meter hurdles. Matt Haas came away with two firsts in the 1,600 meters and the 800 meters. Cody Hyatt took first in the discus, and Brian Mauhl was first in the shot put.
The 400-meter relay team of Tanner Powers, Mauhl, Jason Townzen and Levi Nelson also took first place.
Second-place finishes went to Nelson in the 100-meter dash and Jordan Lamborn in the 400-meter race as well as the 200 meters.
Nelson also took third in the long jump. Others placing third were Powers in the 100-meter dash and the long jump, Brennan in the 200 meter Mauhl in the discus and Hyatt in the shot put.
The seventh-grade boys lost to a very talented Chief Kanim team. The team came away with five first-place finishes, one second place and four fourth places.
First place went to Keith Keller in the 75-meter hurdles as well as the high jump and Justice Manson in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
The 800-meter relay team of Manson, Adam Dalman, Brian Johnson and Marshall Lloyd also took first.
Dalman finished second in the 800-meter race. Third place went to Danny Jepson in the 75-meter hurdles, Brian Johnson in the 200 meters and the high jump and Keith Keller in the discus.
The sixth-grade boys came out very strong in their first meet of the season, scoring 77 points and wining the meet. The results included 10 first-place finishes, seven second-place finishes and six third-place finishes.
Firsts went to Kevin Ormiston in the 75-meter hurdles, Drake DaPonte in the 1,600 meters and the 800 meters and Taylor McCain in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
Kevin Isackson took first in the 400-meter race, as did Frank McLaughlin in the long jump. The medley relay team consisting of McCain, McLaughlin, Isackson and Chad Hennig and the 400-meter relay team of Hennig, Ormiston, Kellen Nobe and Tyler Karavias each took first place.
The 800-meter relay team of Jesse Ransavage, Max Nelson, David Holm and Nobe also took first.
Second place went to DaPonte in the 75-meter hurdles, Shawn Paskey in the 1,600 meters, Max Nelson in the 100-meter dash, Owen Strom in the 800 meters, McLaughlin in the 200 meters, Carter Howell in the discus and Hennig in the long jump.
Third place went to Isackson in the hurdles, Strom in the 1,600 meters, Holm in the 800 meters, Nelson in the 200 meters, Howell in the shot put and McLaughlin in the high jump.
