Haakenson wins at qualifier

Pacific Lutheran University senior Dan Haakenson got the outdoor track and field season started on a bright note for the Lutes when he met the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard in the hammer throw at the Linfield Icebreaker last week. Haakenson, a 2001 graduate of Mount Si, recorded a toss of 172-11 to tie for third place at the meet. He also placed seventh in the shot put (42-4 3/4) and seventh in the discus (137-2).

Baseball camp at MSHS this Saturday

Boys in first through eighth grades and all coaches are invited to Mount Si High School from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, for the Wildcat Baseball Camp. Baseball instruction will focus on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running. Cost is $35 per person and includes a camp T-shirt and lunch. Coaches are admitted free of charge. Register the day of the event.

Reynolds continues to shine

Georgia Reynolds of North Bend continues to shine in various gymnastics performances. Reynolds participated in the Spirit of Flame gymnastics meet recently where she scored a 33.75 for all-around, sixth in the vault with a 9.1, an 8.55 on the bars, 7.2 on the beam and took seventh on the floor with a score of 8.9.

She then participated in the Arnold Classic for level 7 gymnasts. There she took fifth in all-around with a score of 35.925. She scored 9.05 on the vault, 8.9 on the bars, 9.0 on the beam and 8.975 on the floor. Reynolds competes for Gymnastics East in Preston.


Softball players to warm up at clinic

A Mount Si Fastpitch Softball Clinic for players ages 8 to 18 will be held Saturday, March 26, at Mount Si High School or Centennial Fields in Snoqualmie (depending on weather conditions). Bring a glove and bat, if possible, and wear tennis shoes. Lunch and a camp T-shirt will be provided. Cost is $35. Registration forms are available at Mount Si High School, 8651 Meadowbrook Way S.E. in Snoqualmie, prior to the clinic, or pick one up the day of the clinic.
