SnoValley Gymnastics took their first trophy – for second-place overall as a team at the Pumpkin-Fest meet at Metropolitan Gymnastics in Kent recently. Four additional gymnasts, for a total of six, qualified for state: Nikki Gmerek, Kira Jerome, Jennifer Rogers and Savannah Morrison (from left to right). SnoValley did very well in vault and bars by taking five out of top six places in these two events. In vault, Elyssa Roeder took first place, Rogers took third place, Lexi Swanson and Jerome tied for fourth, Gmerek took sixth place and Sydney Leonard tied for seventh place. In bars, first place went to Jerome, second place went to Swanson, fourth place went to Morrison, fifth place went to Roeder, and sixth place went to Rogers as a tie. Roeder tied for fourth in floor. Swanson won fourth all around, Rogers took sixth and Roeder placed seventh. “First place as a team is in our reach,” said coach Yoshi Nakayama.
