Preliminary budget unveiled in North Bend

NORTH BEND – Despite a four-year building moratorium and a stagnant economy, the city’s general fund budget will be in the black through 2005.

That was the message the City Council received at its Sept. 30 work study meeting to discuss preliminary numbers regarding the expected $3.8 million general fund, which covers the city’s major expenses such as salaries, contract costs and projects. The city also will continue to contribute to its general fund reserve – a rainy day savings account of sorts – that is expected to reach $390,000 by the end of 2004.
