The Snoqualmie Middle School Eagles seventh-grade boys basketball team hosted the Chargers from Maywood on the hardwood last week. The game got off to a quick start as Zander Nelson filled the hoop with 12 quick first-quarter points. The Chargers would answer four times from long range to keep it close, but baskets by Justin Downer and Jordin Kinnune gave the Eagles a four-point cushion after one quarter. Strong defensive efforts by Chaz and Code Blair, along with Dillon Shaine and Trey Botten, limited Maywood to only two second-quarter points.

With Zac Pearlstein controlling the boards on both ends of the court and a key basket by Brett Duncan, the Eagles opened up a 13-point halftime advantage. Taylor Campbell took control of the third quarter by scoring six points, grabbing numerous rebounds and blocking three shots. The Eagles finished off the Chargers 44-23. The Eagles were led by Nelson’s 16 points but it was a combined team effort as every SMS player registered in the scorebook, and the defensive effort was too much for Maywood. The win pushes the Eagles record to 2-0.
