Railway museum hearing delayed

SNOQUALMIE – A hearing regarding the Northwest Railway Museum’s efforts to build a Conservation and Restoration Center (CRC) was postponed last week.

The hearing was delayed because all of the Snoqualmie City Council members hadn’t had a chance to view the transcript of a meeting with a hearing examiner earlier this year that was at the heart of the appeal.

Landowners filed for an appeal after the museum’s plans to build a train restoration center off Stoen Quarry Road were approved following the hearing examiner’s meeting on Jan 16. Owners of land bordering the proposed facility say the hearing examiner ruled “erroneously” by granting the conditional use permit and variances for the CRC near a disputed wetland.

The appeal to that decision has been tentatively scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. on April 16 at the Union Hall on Railroad Avenue in Snoqualmie.

After the meeting is held the council has until April 18 to issue its written decision.
