Apartment complex is North Bend’s new tenant

NORTH BEND – Sometime next fall, the first occupants of the 258-unit Snoqualmie Valley Apartments will move in, each of them treated to an up-close view of the rocky face of Mount Si.

The master site plan for the $21.7 million apartment complex proposed by AF Evans Development Inc. of Seattle was approved by the North Bend City Council at a special meeting Tuesday, Aug. 13.

It is the largest project to be sanctioned in the city since a moratorium caused by a lack of water rights was imposed in 1999.

Bob Ketterlin, director of acquisitions for AF Evans, said the company will probably break ground on the project in February. The complex’s first building and its clubhouse should then be completed within eight months, allowing AF Evans to begin leasing apartments.

All of the apartment complex’s units would be built within 14 months of starting construction.

AF Evans believes the time is right to build in North Bend, even with a soft housing market in the region, Ketterlin said.

“It’s a great place here,” he said following the meeting. “It’s just a great place for people to live.”

He added that the growth seen locally, such as Snoqualmie Ridge, bodes well for the project, saying, “We’re excited about the market.”
