Kevin Parsons is visiting 50 states in 50 weeks, all from the seat of a motorcycle.

Since the age of 17, Kevin Parsons has wanted to travel the country by motorcycle.

Thirty years later, Parsons, of Nevada, the brother of Snoqualmie resident Colleen DeVine, made it his goal, and began the journey on April 30.

Riding with his wife Sherri and camping in a towed pop-tent trailer, he intends to visit every state and capitol, including Hawaii and Alaska.

He’ll be passing through the Valley this week, stopping by Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church for a service Sunday, June 10.

“We decided it isn’t a ‘windshield run,'” Parsons wrote in his blog. “That is, all day riding fast, seeing as much as possible.” Rather, for six days a week, the Parsons will be riding 60 mph or slower, stopping at viewpoints. They relax on Sundays.

“We really want to see America. People. Cultures. What makes this country tick. What makes Arkansas people different from Coloradans. Or from us? What makes us similar?” Parsons wrote.

Parsons is promoting his book, Life Choices: Pursuing Your Passion, an anthology of stories about overcoming obstacles and living significant lives.
