Woman killed in accident on I-90

SNOQUALMIE – One woman is dead and another woman is seriously injured after a Snoqualmie woman hit their car head-on while driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 Sunday evening.

Erin Klotz, 20, Kennewick, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which was in the eastbound lanes of I-90 near Exit 27. The driver of the car Klotz was in, Tracey Fischer, 20, Edmonds, was transported to Haborview Medical Center, where she remains in serious condition with head injuries, a hospital spokesperson said Monday.

The driver of the car going the wrong way, Debra Acey, 44, Snoqualmie, was treated and released Monday morning.

Washington State Trooper Monica Hunter said her office had received calls about the car heading in the wrong direction on the highway prior to the accident, which happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Hunter said alcohol was a factor in the accident and that Acey had been booked by the Washington State Patrol under suspicion of driving under the influence. Hunter said the State Patrol was awaiting test results to determine the woman’s blood-alcohol level.
