Wildcats grapplers perform well at 4A KingCo tournament

The Mount Si Wildcats wrestling team earned second place at the 4A KingCo tournament on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School. The Wildcats, who advanced nine wrestlers to the regional tournament, had a multitude of athletes finish in the top-five slots in their respective weight divisions.

Wildcats grappler Tryon Kaess earned first place in the 106-pound weight class. Kaess’s teammate Mark Marum nabbed second place in the 106-pound weight division. Mount Si 170-pounder Sage Phelps earned second place while Tate Stedman (195) and Luke Harper (152) registered third-place finishes. Wildcats wrestlers finishing in fourth place in their weight classes were Bradeon Haynie (126), Jaeden Durham (145) and Spencer Marenco (160). Brody Belaire captured fifth place in the 138-pound weight class.
