The North Bend City Council will take testimony from the public on several issues at its regular meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21 at the Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Avenue S., North Bend.
Among the items to be discussed at public hearings are an increase in the park impact fees the city charges on new development, an increase in sewer rates and an increase in general facility charge (GFC) rates.
The council will also hear from the public on its new six-year transportation improvement plan, which prioritizes street projects in the city for the next six years.
Current park impact fees in North Bend are $4,054 for a single-family home, or $3,431 per unit of multi-family housing. These fees are collected only on new housing projects, specifically for development of new park properties. The city’s 2016 capital budget for parks projects is $100,000.
Currently, the city’s base general facilities charge (GFC) is $5,840. This is a one-time fee for properties connecting to the city’s sewer system. The sewer rates and monthly fees vary with the type of use; for the full list, visit http://northbendwa.gov/faq.aspx?qid=63.
Written comments on the fee changes may be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, to the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 211 Main Avenue N. (P.O. Box 896) North Bend, or verbally during the hearing June 21.
