The King County Sheriff’s office is reporting that a 63-year-old Renton man was killed Monday night, Nov. 2, after falling during a hike on Little Si.
At about 7:55 p.m. Monday, the office received a call from a man who told the dispatcher that he fell off of a trail and was injured. He was disoriented and not sure where he was.
The dispatcher was able to determine his location as the Little Si area. King County Search and Rescue members responded and found the man about 2 miles up the mountain and off the trail about 300 feet. The area was described as very steep requiring technical rescuers to get to his location.
When rescuers contacted him he was unresponsive. They performed CPR until Eastside Fire and King County Medics arrived. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
The King County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Duty officer said 33 volunteer search and rescue members from Seattle Mountain Rescue and King County Explorer Search and Rescue responded to find the man and eventually bring him off the mountain.
