Cascade Bicycle Club hosted its annual Flying Wheels Summer Century presented by Raleigh event on Saturday, May 31, starting and ending in Marymoor Park in Redmond. More than 3,000 riders participated in the ride, which included scenic routes of varying length, a Finish Line festival and more.
New in 2014, cyclists partnered with Team Korey to raise critical funds and awareness for Camp Korey, a non-profit in Carnation, WA that offers year-round programs for children and their families living with serious and life-altering medical conditions, always free of charge. Team Korey featured 48 cyclists, raising over $17,500 for the camp and completing over an estimated 3,435 miles.
“Team Korey is a great way for community members to combine what they love with a good cause,” states Peter McBride, Team Program Coordinator. “The athletes who participate in Team Korey events work hard to increase awareness and raise funds while training for events they enjoy.”
Team Korey athletes are already busy prepping for their next events including the Rock n’ Roll Marathon, Climb for Campers (Mount Rainer), and the New York City Marathon. To learn more about Team Korey or to get involved, visit www.campkorey.org/teamkorey
