A free training session on SafeTALK is offered to the public 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation.
This comprehensive three-hour training helps people know how to recognize suicide risks and signs as well as how to ask someone if they are thinking about suicide and get them help.
The class is for all ages, but teens under 15 must have parent permission.
“We can never know enough about suicide awareness. Our biggest prevention tool is knowledge and the spreading of knowledge,” said Heather Kern, Snoqualmie Middle School Counselor. She urges everyone to attend and spread the word about the event.
“At this training, you will learn four basic steps to recognize persons with thoughts of suicide and how to connect them with helpful resources,” Kern said. To register, send an e-mail message to svcn@msn.com.
