Trout derby nears for Valley youth

Mount Si Fish and Game Club’s Annual Children’s Trout Derby is Saturday, May 2, at the ponds located behind the Snoqualmie Police Department, 34825 Douglas Ave. S.E., on Snoqualmie Ridge.

The derby happens from daybreak to 10 a.m. No registration is necessary, and there is no cost to participate. Fish weigh-in is scheduled for between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Children ages 6 to 14 may compete. Fish must be neatly cleaned and have gills removed before being weighed. There is a limit of two fish, and fishing nets are not allowed. Prizes will be given out at 10 a.m. for the largest fish in each age bracket. For more information, call Shawn at (425) 888-4605.
