For nearly 30 years, Rocky Spencer was one of the foremost wildlife experts in the Valley.

Spencer’s accomplishments were cut short when he was killed Sunday, Sept. 9, after being struck by a helicopter rotor while trapping bighorn sheep near Selah in Eastern Washington.

Spencer, 55, worked in the Valley and Eastside King County for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), specializing in large carnivores like cougar and bear.
