V game ends in tie

The Mount Si Wildcat girls JV soccer team played a tough game against Bellevue recently with the result ending in a 0-0 tie. Goalie Susan Neilson had an awesome game to ice the tie. Mount Si had several opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net.


‘Cats do well against Liberty

Several Mount Si JV tennis players faired well on the tennis court last week against Liberty. Coming from behind, the team of Isaac Farrar/Jesse Ransavage won their match 9-7. Stephan Salmon/Scott Paophavihanh and Garret Morck/Nick Schwarzmiller also won their doubles matches. Kevin Sandin played an outstanding match winning 8-3.


‘Cats tie Issaquah

With Kyle Tjossen winning his singles match 8-2, the Mount Si boys JV tennis team tied Issaquah last week 6-6. The team of Isaac Farrar/Jesse Ransavage won their match 8-3. Nick Schwarzmiller/Kevin Walsh won their match 8-6; Scott Paophavihanh/Stephan Salmon won their match 8-2; Andrew Klausing/Matt Lynne won 8-4, and Bill Salisbury/Kyle Tjossen won 8-3.

Team drops match

The Mount Si boys golf team fell to Mercer Island last week at Fairwood Golf and Country club 179-206. Jon Larson took medalist honors for the match though, shooting a 2-under par 33. Tanner Ostby shot a 40, Mike Rutledge shot a 44, Zach Tachell a 44 and Travis Dalke a 45.


‘Cats defeat Sammamish

The Mount Si boys golf team racked up one more win last week with a 193-225 drubbing of Sammamish. Leading the way for Mount Si with a low round of even par was Tanner Ostby with a 35. Other scores were: Beau Davis with a 36, Mike Rutledge a 40, Brad Pillo a 40 and Jon Larson a 42.


‘Cats show strength

The Mount Si cross country team traveled to Issaquah last week to take on both Issaquah and Liberty on a wet and muddy course. There were a number of strong performances by both the girls and boys teams but both teams placed third against two very tough opponents.

The top finishers for the boys were Owen Strom, who took first for the team; Drake daPonte, who finished second for Mount Si; and Thomas Goble, who placed third. All three runners were within 10 seconds of each other.

On the girls side, Katie Hogan ran her best race of the season finishing the 3-mile race in 20 minutes, 53 seconds. Erin Dunklee was the Wildcat’s second-place runner followed by Ariane Barr.

Mount Si downs Sammamish

The Mount SI JV volleyball team blasted Sammamish last week in two sets, 25-12 and 25-8. Alison Loud had an outstanding game with three kills and two aces. Teammate Carly Nelson had three kills and four aces and Corianne Castagno had four kills and two aces. Heather Klewin had a strong match, posting 17 assists and five aces. Kathryn McFarland had four kills and two aces. Miranda Pratt had five kills, Rachel Brun had four aces along with seven digs and Shelby Martin had four aces and two digs.


Team moves to 9-1 record

With a three-game win over Liberty last week, the Mount Si JV volleyball team bettered their record. They won in three games, 25-18, 19-25 and 15-11. Heather Klewin led the effort with 24 assists and four aces. Brittanny Cragin had five digs and Corianne Castagno added 12 kills. Kathryn McFarland had six kills and five digs and teammate Rachel Brun had three kills and six digs.
