Voters deny hospital levy

Published 3:55 pm Thursday, October 2, 2008

A big majority of Valley voters rejected King County Hospital District’s proposition 1 lid lift in the Aug. 21 primary election.

The 30-cent levy increase would have funded construction near the I-90/Snoqualmie Parkway interchange of a state of the art facility for Snoqualmie Valley Hospital.

As of Aug. 27, the lid lift won just 30.9 percent approval. More than 69 percent of voters voted against it. The final count will be Sept. 5.

Hospital administrators said they believe a sentiment against new taxes led to the defeat.
