Valley Relay raises $70k

Walking for “hope,” hundreds of Valley residents, cancer survivors, friends and family marched in the Snoqualmie Valley Relay for Life, held Saturday and Sunday, July 14-15, at Centennial Fields.

Moving in the hot sun by day and around a track lit with memorial luminarias by night, 16 Relay teams had raised approximately $70,000 in donations as of Monday.

“It brings the Valley together,” said Denise DuBose of North Bend, an organizer in charge of the Relay store.

The Relay is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which helps fund research for a cure for cancer. Funds also go to programs that provide toll-free phone counselors for cancer patients, medical information, transportation and lodging for those going through treatment, help for women dealing with cancer to feel better about themselves, as well as camps for children and peer groups for men.
