SNOQUALMIE – The Snoqualmie Valley Record Newspaper has hired Travis Peterson as its new editor. Peterson replaces Barry Rochford who led the editorial department for two years. Rochford is now the managing editor for the Kent, Auburn and Renton Reporter newspapers.

Peterson comes to the Valley Record from the Bothell-Kenmore Reporter Newspaper, which also is owned by King County Journal Newspapers.

While at the Reporter, Peterson covered the cities of Bothell and Kenmore in addition to the Northshore School District. Peterson was with the Reporter for three years.

“The communities of Bothell and Kenmore were amazing places to work,” Peterson said, “but I’m looking forward to a new position and to the opportunity to get involved with the Snoqualmie Valley area.”

Prior to his job at the Reporter, Peterson worked for 18 months at Post Newspapers Inc. in Milpitas, Calif., where he covered education and city government issues.

“It’s always great to promote people from within a company and that’s what we did with both Barry’s and Travis’ moves,” said Jim McKiernan, Valley Record general manager. “Travis brings city government experience and was highly thought of by the communities he covered.”

Peterson is a graduate of San Jose State University, in San Jose, Calif. He lives in Bothell with his wife.
